PRC LICENSURE EXAMINATIONS SCHEDULE ISSUED

The Professional Regulation Commission headed by Chairman Nicolas P. Lapeña Jr. issued today the Schedule of Licensure Examinations for the Year 2009. This was shown under Resolution No. 2008-478 dated 10 October 2008 also signed by Commissioners Nilo L. Rosas and Ruth Raña Padilla.

“We have lined up an average of 3 to 8 examinations per month except December where only the Dentistry -written and practical- examination is set. The month of August is the busiest as we have nine examinations to be undertaken.” Chairman Lapeña said.

Under Section 7 of RA 8981, the Commission is empowered to administer and conduct the licensure examinations of the various professional regulatory boards….”

Under Section 9 of the same law, the Professional Regulatory Boards have the responsibility to, “prepare, adopt and issue the syllabi or tables of specifications of the subjects or examinations in consultation with the academe; determine and prepare the questions for the licensure examinations xxxxx; score and rate the examination papers xxxxxx.”

The PRC has ten (10) Regional Offices with testing centers. For the licensure examination for Teachers, Angeles City, Pampanga; Bacolod City, Negros Occidental; Basco, Batanes; Bongao, Tawi Tawi; Butuan City, Caraga Region; Cotabato City, MAguindanao; General Santos City, South Cotabato; Jolo, Sulu; Ozamis City, Misamis Occidental; Pagadian City, Zamboanga Del Sur and Puerto Princesa, Palawan are added as testing centers.

“We released the schedule earlier so that the schools could promptly prepare the transcript of records of their graduating class vis-à-vis the examinees could adequately prepare for their review.” Lapeña cited.

Atty. Diosdado Anselmo Lalusis, Officer-in-Charge of the Licensure Office said his office will continue the campus tour information campaign next year to provide schools and examinees the latest update on examination matters.

Except for Teachers, Nurses, Marine Deck and Marine Engineer Officers, the application and supporting documents to take the licensure exams should be filed not later than 20 days before the first days of exams in the central and regional offices.

Ms. Meden M. Calderon, OIC of Examination Division said, “Deadline is deadline. It must be observed. Requirements must be submitted on time so that we could adequately prepare the venue, inform the watchers and secure the conduct of examinations.”
